It’s Autumn and while the trees are shedding their leaves, us warm blooded creatures are looking to keep warm. Animals are stocking up on their food to go into hibernation but for us who have to brave the weather, we are bringing out the winter clothing and are putting away our summer clothing for next year. But before we banish our summer clothing why not challenge yourself to see how you can layer up your summer dresses and summer blouses to keep warm and still look stylish.

To successfully layer up your summer clothing and keep warm you will need these 5 must have winter accessories.
1. Tights and leggings
2. Scarves
3. Boots
4. Thermal Underwear
5. Ladies knitwear

You will need varying styles of lightweight ladies knitwear including v neck pull overs, lightweight long sleeve turtle neck jumpers long sleeve v neck knitted tops, scoop neck jerseys, polo neck or turtle neck and ribbed jersey tops – all in warming combinations of wool, cashmere and cotton. Lightweight ladies knitwear will look less bulky under your summer dresses or pinafores and a varying combination of necklines will give you the flexibility to mix and match your layering according to necklines. Include also lightweight cardigans and long cardigans to wear over summer sleeveless tops and dresses.

Once you have a varied range of these 5 must have winter accessories now you can layer up that summer dress by slipping a lightweight long sleeve jersey or roll neck polo underneath your summer dress for extra warm and style. Accessorize with leggings or tights to keep your legs warm and add some knee high boots. Use large scarves around the neck both to accentuate your outfit and for warmth.

Use your long sleeve summer blouses under your V neck pullovers to add style and glamour. Choose geometric patterned long sleeve summer blouses with varying colours to match with plain coloured pull overs. For example a summer long sleeved blouse with shirt collar in turquoise brown and white will look fab under a yellow pullover. So feel free to wear your spring jumpers in winter.

A red roll neck long sleeve polo looks great under a black sleeveless shift dress and will certainly capture the Christmas spirit. Alternatively you can throw a red cardigan over your black shift dress if it is too fitting to accommodate under layering.
