Essential Caravan Accessories For a Motorhome Renovation
When space is limited in a small van, for a motorhome renovation we need precise planning and the need to cut out what we desire and stick with what we really need i.e. the essentials to go away for a relaxing holiday.
We were approached in the infancy of our company to do a motorhome renovation and not wanting to turn down work or upset the customer we happily took it on.
As the saying goes……”If you fail to plan you plan to fail” so Michael the main renovator needed to measure the size of the available space inside the Fiat van.
Michael then plotted out where the beds, stove and shower would go and drew it up as a plan/guide to follow.
The owner of the small fiat van seemed happy after the plans were showed to him, so we started on the motorhome renovation immediately as a part time project.
The essentials needed for a motorhome renovation are:
· Beds- in this case two as it was a husband and wife team.
· A 3 way fridge was fitted as this is what was requested however most motorhomes now run a 12v, 24V and 240 volt compressor fridge.
· Cook tops vary with each customer, so we fitted a 3 burner sink combination.
· The customer is fitting their own microwave
· 12V shurflo pump to run the hot water system for the shower and sink.
· Winegard tv antenna which can be operated from inside the vehicle.
· Annexe matting for comfort when sitting outside enjoying a glass of beer or wine.
· A Fiamma awning is best suited for this vehicle as no external legs are exposed when travelling.
· L.E.D lighting for low current draw which also provides adequate lighting for cooking, tv watching and reading.
· A 12v cassette toilet was fitted in the shower these also come in a manual model if required.
· Waste hose and
· Water hose which doesn’t leech toxins from the sun and cause awful taste sensations as when using garden hose!
PLAN OF THE RENOVATED MOTORHOME:
The plan of the project has been to put the shower behind the drivers seat and toilet close by.
Then we have added the kitchen with cooktop after this and the 2 beds soon after.
Non essential accessories:
GPS, rear view and front bumper sensors, microwave and tv.
So when planning your do-it-yourself renovation on your motorhome overestimate the time needed and source your parts from the various suppliers carefully to keep within budget. We would list the essentials needed so you keep within the budget before you splash out on the non-essentials
