Hippie Clothing

The Baja Hoodie, also known as the baja pullover or baja poncho, is a traditional Mexican item of clothing. It is a hooded pullover with a large single pocket at the lower half of the front section, enabling the user to link hands inside the pocket to protect against the weather, as well as the use as a regular pocket.

Baja hoodies were adopted by hippie culture during the 1960s and have been a popular item within alternative youth culture every since. However the materials used to make Baja hoodies today are much more comfortable than the rather itchy materials used back in the 1960s. They are generally made from cotton or a cotton and polyester mix although there some specialist suppliers which use hemp to make them.

These days there are a few different variations to choose from; some have been adapted with a front zipper, enabling you to cool off in hotter weather, which is an added benefit as they have always traditionally been a thick and heavy type of top, good for protecting against harsher weather conditions. Of course they come in various colours, generally a mixture of vibrant colours which is perhaps why they were first made popular by hippie culture.
